Check out the following website: http://www.TradePub.com . They provide free electronic trade publications to anyone who is qualified.

Join ASME and/or ANSI.

There is no free lunch. One can purchase membership for the applicable codes of interest.

Pressure vessels are designed per the ASME (or equivalent) Section 8 code and this is the best source of obtaining (the design) information for any pressure vessel except for use in atomic energy vessels which have additional constraints on materials and testing.

Dear Stiwari1983

I'd like you to know that selection of pressure vessel material is dependant on :

a. Type of fluid (corrosive or not).

b. Design pressure (high, moderate, vacuum).

c. Design temperature (high, moderate and lower, cryogenic).

d. Special cases for storing of lethal substances.

ASME code have no guide to select any material.

NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) code is interested in behaviour of materials when contain a certain type of fluid, and how much its corrosion rates with respect to different values of temperatures and fluid concentration.

At what pressure and temperature will you be operating/using the pressure vessel? Is weight of the pressure vessel crucial?
