Quiet Zone in Anechoic Chamber

09/04/2007 2:43 AM

Hi, question is related to electromagnetic anechoic chamber for far field testing of antenna supporting frequency range of 1-10 GHz. I m unclear about the concept of Quiet Zone.

First of all, what defines the quiet zone or test region?

How to calculate the dimension of a quiet zone if the chamber's dimension is say 40ftx20ftx15ft?

what determines the shape of quiet zone as I read that Quiet zone can be spherical, cylindrical or rectangular?

I referred to "Electromagnetic anechoic chamber" by Leland H Hemming. Althought it is a good book but i couldnt find any thing related to the above questions.

anyone ?

Thanks in advance.

"GWB > /dev/null"

Please explain - it's driving me crazy!

Okay. It's a political statement. Your sentiments may be different.

GWB = George W. Bush

> = Linux/Unix redirection operator

/dev/null = Linux/Unix 'null' device used when redirecting the output of a program (or the contents of a file, although I don't know why anyone would do this) whose output (such as diagnostic or status messages) you wish to ignore.

GWB > /dev/null = "Ignore everything GWB says," basically.
