Trim Clip Installation

09/04/2007 10:04 AM

Gentlemen or ladies

I am looking for a way to separate bulk packed trim clips that I use in my assembly. I use about 4 clips per minute. The problem is these clips become entangled with each other and are very stubborn to separate. I have checked with our supplier and there are no alternative options such as ribbon. I do have a tool that is manually loaded and works well for instalationI just need a way to separate them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know where you live but try the ARC it is an association for handicap persons.

You did not explain if the tool has a magazine that holds many of the clips or what you plan to do with them after separation. Could have cards made up and send them with the clips have them fill them with boxes to repackage them. I work in manufacturing where we have four handicap team members. One is blind and they all have limited thought capacity's and I'm not sure thats true either compared to the rest of the work force some of them are brilliant. Just have a hard time expressing it. They do many different tasks. Once they learn what to do watch out and don't get in their way. You will get run down

I have experience with the handicaped and I agree 100% . I worked in one place where we had operators and assembly people showing up drunk, high and lazy. We reluctantly agreed to try some handicaped personel. I have never worked with any operators who cared so much for jobs and took so much care. It did take a little time to train but they all payed close attention and realy tried. I truly miss working with them.

My clips are packed in bulk and I need to seperate them and place them in a instalation tool that is used to push them on to the part. if I can seperate them I can orientate them and put them down a feeder tube and feed 5 clips at a time to verify my operators install all the clips.

How about a vibratory bowl feeder with gates? It may not separate all the clips but it may help reduce the amount of clips need to sort manually! Check this out!

If the feed tube comes off the tool acquire more tubes and have them filled. Then you will only have to count empty tubes to know they installed all the clips. The vibration table would help separate them. There are companies that will engineer a machine that would separate them and feed them down the tube count them all so.

That will be a bit pricey
