Marine Propeller Clearance

09/06/2007 11:17 PM

My Vessel Viking Yacht Has the following Props attached

4 blade Michigan .27x43x2" serial numbers m48204 and m48203

Although we've been running this way,(for 10 Years)

During cleaning we became concerned about a clearance Of 1/8th inch

" between Prop and Support Struts

In your experience and Expertise is this sufficient for cooling The bearings, etc?

Photo's are available for added insite by email.

Ten years is a pretty good test period. Is there the appearance of overheating? Lets see the pictures. I don't know squat about it but hey, since I'm not an expert the chance of me REALLY screwing things up are fairly small.

You wouldn't happen to need a registered nurse (my wife) and a deckhand (me) to help crew that thing would ya?

Lets see some pictures

I don't understand your concern about heat in the bearings and this clearance. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Are the bearings cream crackered?
