Remember the Doyle?

02/06/2018 6:21 PM

Does anyone remember these guys?

Lonny Doyle Adam Doyle

These guys were working on a new ICE, the Doyle Rotary Engine.

Looks like a stumbling block (most likely funding) has proven to be a big stumble, no progress updates have been posted to their website since 2011.

In addition, the concept was entered in the Create the Future Design Contest 2011, where it fared poorly did not fare well.

Has anyone got any news about the project?

Their website seems to be up to date this year and the last comment appears to be they are waiting for funding.

Looks like they are stuck for one reason or another, probably the technology just hasn't panned out as intended hence no one is willing to give them the money. This happens often, especially for ICE developments. Slight improvements, even if proven are not enough to warrant re-engineering existing ICE production lines at the cost of billions.

One of the sell points to the design is that many parts and technologies are existing in one form or another. The Doyle Rotary is simply a different way to assemble the components.

Sort of like cooking - Wheat flour and water, mixed and cooked just so, you have pancakes. Alter ingredient ratios a little bit, change the cooking method, you have bread.

I agree that money is hard to come by these days.

I've not heard anything from the Doyles in years.

There is this:

Lonny Doyle - Founder @ Doyle's Fabrication | Crunchbase

Not sure where Red Oak Texas is; south of Dallas about maybe 50-100 miles.
