The fuel injection pump is the heart of the diesel engine which precisely deliver fuel and maintains timing that keeps the engine running smooth. At the same time the it also also controls the amount of fuel needed to gain the desired power. It performs job of both the throttle as well as the ignition system needed in gasoline engines.

Diesel Injection Pump

Image: dieselcenter.com.au An Injection Pump is the device that pumps diesel (as the fuel) into the cylinders of a diesel engine. Traditionally, the injection pump is driven indirectly from the crankshaft by gears, chains or a toothed belt (often the timing belt) that also drives the camshaft.

I believe that the student's dislike of Google is that it still requires thinking on the part of the requester. There, you are presented with multiple choices and still left to think and choose the best answer.

Here, thanks to the members, all the thinking has already been done for them.

Many here also freely dispense potentially lethal information to those who are demonstrably unqualified to use the information safely.

Telling these poor souls to "do their own work/homework" is frowned upon by some members and admin.
