how to identify a fake memory card from the real one

Two ways: easiest is buy from a reputable dealer. I like http://www.frys.com/

The other is to test it in your phone. I could make a package that you could never tell the difference with out using it. If needed even basic power and logic but no memory. (much more work)

My phone, a Krazer, will take a 2GB but will only use 1.5 so I put in a 1GB.

Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Hope this helps Brad

Re: UVs comments, The link I posted is to 7DayShop where I have bought many items. The only time I had a problem with a part, they replaced it without hesitation. Memory is so cheap from them why not just buy 2Gb & see how much your phone recognises.

Your phone won't operate differently with a larger/smaller memory card. The card is for storage only. Photo, ring tone etc. So its "effectiveness" depends on you, the user. How much do you need for all your photos and ring tones?

Its not like your computer, more memory and it run faster. The memory card is not memory for the phone, its the hard drive for the phone.
