Generating PCB Excitation Pulses Without a Generator

09/10/2007 11:50 PM

dear readers,

i had bought a module SRM400 recently. i have difficulty on searching the materials on the net regarding on how to generate excitation pulses to the circuit board without the waveform generator.is there a way?

thank you

Google for "555 timer" and you`ll find the cheapest, simpliest methods to trigger your SRM. Regards Uwe

thank you very much for the replied.however,is there anyway to replace it without using software applications?because i know for 555 timer, there is an involvement of software.only hardware will do..

thank you very much

There is no involvement for software - all you need is a datasheet (from national semiconductors, texas instruments or others) in which you will find a nomogram which shows you how to select the frequency-determining components (R and C) and how to connect the 555. Good luck !

do i have to use a specific 555 timer?it is because there are many models out there.how about timer such as LMC555?what's the difference?

thank you

You`ll find the differences looking at the datasheet. Some 555 are CMOS-types, some are bipolar types. The CMOS-versions have a lower static current consumption and make lower dynamic current pulses while switching and so they are a little bit better but in your application you can use "everything which has eight legs" ..... ;-)
