High-Temperature Cable Connector

09/11/2007 3:52 AM

Hi

We are having transformers which is used for heating, where the ambient temperature is very high due to radiation from furnace. because of this very frequent failure of cable connectors occuring. Can any one suggest a source from where we can procure the HIGH TEMPERATURE CABLE CONNECTORS.

Specification as follows

Current rating is 100 A

Voltage is 415 V AC

Currently cable connector size is 50 sq mm.

Thanks

Have a look at the swiss company LEMO (lemo.de) - they have excellent heavy duty round connectors for up to 230A selectable with different materials like PTFE and others.

Regards Uwe

To avoid heat loss, and obviate the need for high temperature connectors, perhaps, why can't the furnace be thermally insulated?

What do you call "high" temperature?

Micaver HT can be custom insert molded with metalic parts. Has a operating temp up to 700C

Thermal insulation: Fiberfrax, but will degrade based on thermal cycling. Or, Quartzel whick is made from 99,99% silica very pure, great stability to 1000C, but not cheap

What is Ambient Temp ºC at the place where you want to connect to carry 100A.

Will suggest easy way out on getting your reply.
