Saw this on Google : Using predator drones, equipped with hell fire missiles to destroy truck drivers that have violated hours of service rules. Today, April 1st, all trucks involved in interstate commerce need to be equipped with ELD ( Electronic logging device ) . Gone are the days of the paper logs, where at times a trucker could fudge the books if he needed to make a delivery, pick up or to find a safe haven because of inclement weather. All of the " fun " is slowly being taken out of trucking, like : creative logging, hookie girls, cb radio etc. Could this of been started with Bernie Sanders, " War on trucks " and the effort to remove trucks from American roads and highways.
Most of the largest carriers already have ELD's and have had them in use for the last few years, it's the smaller mom and pop trucking firms that haven't installed these devices in their trucks and because of costs don't have a plan in place to install them. The average price being about $ 2500.00 per truck for a basic system and there is the cost of $ 400.00 Installation, 3 year commitment to Qualcomm systems for data management and maintenance.
Immediately the DOT scales will be swamped with hordes of out of state truckers being " put out of service " at locations in every state and this may hamper efforts to get goods to market.
This program is called the " pigs in space ".
