CAN Bus

04/18/2018 1:41 AM

Hi. Need help here. I'm quite confused here about module and ECU.Under BCM, we should add ECU or not? Example, lighting ECU, Door ECU,etc.. Or, we already control all of that through BCM and just need to use driver only?

. . . like ECU is an environmental control unit in a submersible. If you are driving a car, then it is probably an engine control unit, but we don't have enough information to help this poster.

Your confusion cannot be solved here without much more information. Are you a mechanic, manufacturer, hobbyist, etc. The exact module(s) that you "add" will depend upon the existing network architecture of the vehicle that you are working on.

Depending upon the exact make, model, and year, you will find the ECU (Engine Control Unit) communicates with various function BCMs (Body Control Modules) distributed throughout the vehicle via the CAN (Controller Area Network). All of these devices are well defined and instructions for programming and interfacing with them are easily discoverable via your favorite search engine.

First, you should learn the technical meaning of all the words and initials you have used with no idea of what they mean, are, or do.

Module | Define Module at Dictionary.com

BCM - Wikipedia

You can define all the rest.

Get a proper definition of all the terms you have used.

The repeated use of undefined acronyms will prove distressing to all involved.

Is independent research, like Google, not something that you want to do?
