360 Video

06/27/2018 7:49 AM

Hi all, I am a newbie to this forum. I hope most of us must have heard about a 360 video. I work in a 360 video production company in Toronto. Being a videographer, I have worked with many clients for creating video contents for them. Recording a 360 video is a different experience. 360 video is a video in which a view in every direction is recorded at the same time. We can record the world in 360 degrees. The best part is you can view the video in any direction. It helps you to to create a virtual reality. You are able to control the viewing direction and watch the video from whatever perspective you like.

How do we record a 360 video? We can make use of multiple cameras and give them an overlapping field of view. We can record a seamless 360x 180 view and degree field. There are plenty of compact video cameras out there that can offer you an incredible view with a very wide angle lens as well. 360 videos are now capable to be uploaded in the YouTube and Facebook and can be viewed on both computers and smartphones. Thank you.

Welcome to the madhouse forum, vincentJ.

I'm certain recording your images require some careful engineering. I and expect many others here look forward to hearing what and how your company did meet all of these challenges. (Without giving away the proprietary farm. )

While people move around a space they clearly are aware of things both in front and behind them but we don't have a field of view as large as you record. Right now I'm curious about how these vastly larger images than our field of view are presented to a viewer.

Epcot Center at Disney World has a film attraction called O'Canada where they projected 360 degree images on a circular screen where the audience stood in the center with the projectors directly overhead. It is quite immersive as you can look around and "see it all". There are many others in use but that's the one I have seen.

Yes, I know of this option for surround presentations. My point in bringing up this question is that this method requires a purpose built theater. Doing this at a amusement center that already has purpose built entertainment makes sense but is a limited market. Now an Oculus headset would preclude purpose built theaters and a 3-D simulation capability but 3-D was not mentioned.

Civil engineers?

Mentioning one's business here is often met with overblown gnashing of teeth, admonishment, spam accusing, rule shouting, and general unwelcome unpleasantness

Congratulations! and Welcome while it lasts.

Clever you

What? Nobody but AP#1 said anything about civil engineers.

Your right and the reason CR4 should abolish the anonymous posters. There is Civil Engineering involved with theaters of 360° viewing and Software & Programming.

The OP posted in the right section if you ask me
