Argument for Biomass

09/17/2007 10:40 AM

My daily science readings have produced this interesting report on

A quick look at natural gas and biogas hybrids.

Being that we are engineering types interested in our planet's health, I though I would share it with all of you. Please take the opportunity to open a discussion on the topic. As you know, I have been talking up the use of SOFC, Solar cell in hydrogen gas generation, and the hot steam conversion of waste into fuels. Here is our chance to start designing for the future.

Hey chtank

I thought you would be happy to know that in some places on the planet, people do care. Things like the use of CNG are being used in more and more vehicles as we speak.

I am from India. It is a third world country. We probably release more CO2 in the atmosphere than all of EU and UK put together (Forgive me for the lack of stats. I havnt bothered to collect them).

In our capital city, rules have been made by the government to use CNG. All taxis and buses included must switch to CNG. If you look at the population here and a change in a place like ours... There is definately hope. I can sense a massive change in the air from 2006 to now. It was impossible to breathe in some areas for more than a few hours. Today the air is well under the standards and pollution rates are low (Greenhouse gases).

It turns out that people do not really make a change unless it is absolutely nessasary. Only when our air was unbreathable and the situation was drastic did the government take this step. It is yet to be implimented in other citis.

I hope that is not the reason that others are waiting for.

Good luck!

Cheers!

actually India is well head of many other nations, developed and undeveloped, in the area of alternate energy and green energy. In fact, I would not be surprised if India was one of the first nations to adopt the use of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells fueled with syn-gas. I know that India has one of the largest solar panel manufacturing plants going into production in the not too distant future. I am sure that this solar energy will help move India into the hydrogen economy, too. And with all the raw materials for biomass fuel gasifiers I am sure that India will very soon take a leading position in energy distribution to the masses. A friend of mine in South Africa is in a position to advise his government on their energy policy and I have presented these links I am giving you to him, too. South Africa is already taking major steps toward the hydrogen economy and energy independence. I am hoping to promote the distribution of the energy to the least of their population as a South African national energy policy. If energy is given to the underprivileged it would be a major step toward world peace and tranquility.
