Dry Vacuum Pumps for Use in Medical Research?

09/17/2007 11:05 AM

My firm is completing general background research on dry vacuum pumps and their potential application in the medical research area for a pump manufacturer.
The pumps are currently being utilized in major nuclear facilities and research laboratories with specific application to circulate or pump gases which can be aggressive, inert, toxic or radioactive (the only materials exposed to the vacuum environment are stainless steel or nickel plated steel).

I would appreciate any recommendation regarding the best person/organization to contact to briefly discuss the use of this type of pump in the medical research field. Thank you for any recommendation that you can provide.

Try www.lesker.com

They represent several brands, and seem relatively un-biased.

Good Luck

You did not mention the level of vacuum needed but the following guys do it all. I use pumps designed for the semiconductor industry, which uses some really nasty chemicals. I hightly recommend varian but have used the other two linked below

Varian http://www.varianinc.com/cgi-bin/nav?/products/vacuum/

Acatel http://www.avem.org/MemDirF/Alcatel.html

Edwards http://www.edwardsvacuum.com/

BOC Edwards or Alcatel although they are French have proven good to me in performance, service and support.
