Delta Connected Motor to VFD

07/01/2018 4:52 PM

We have six terminal outgoing terminals from a VFD to a motor. It means the motor is delta connected. why not the Motor have a Delta winding Internally or delta connected through links or through cables. why we need to run a cables from the VFD to the motor for making a delta connection?

Why six wires? Maybe so you can easily read or monitor the current in each motor winding.

If it is not stolen, it should have come with an operator's manual. That is likely to have a wiring diagram.

If not, ask the manufacturer for one.

If all else fails, hire a tech that knows VFDs and motors.

I think you have some faulty information....what is the VFD brand and model #? Is this a 2 speed motor? Is this the original motor? What other info do you have on the motor? What type of equipment is this on?

I have attached the terminal details of VFD in the link,

The load is a compressor Motor. I don't have the motor drawings. The VFD make is Fuji Electric's Frenic Eco Series

It appears as though that inverter was modified to run two motors from the one inverter. If you look carefully, each of the terminal pairs is labeled the same: U1, V1, W1.

JRaef,

If you closely look at the right side terminals, (Y, X, Z) is written in that attachment, which implies that it is a delta connection. Sample image below,

I think you are reading too much into this. But what do I know? I’m not there...

The 6-terminals at motor may not be for Delta connection.

Could it be that the motor has two windings internally!

The 'One-channel 12/12 -pulse series connected LCI drive' supplying the two windings!!

Could you get hold of the motor winding connection diagram (Motor name plate may have it)!!
