Sewage Waste Water Treatment

09/19/2007 1:20 AM

Regards,

I need an urgent help in this matter ( we are making a design for buffer tank & we need to build up 1 Air blower & several air diffusers) but seriously I have no idea about no. of diffusers.Brand,Aeration Rate & the capacity for both)

For info,

Buffer tank volume=70 m3 with length 5.5 m & Width 5 m

Plant capacity =120 m3/day

There are 2 pumps inside the tank.

I really need your cooperation in this matter & I will be really appreciated.

You can source information on the Sanitaire range of diffusers from ITT Industries. They will assist you with diffuser details once you know the load of the tank.

Dresser Roots should be able to assist with blower specs depending on how much air you require.

Both companies operate in or out of the USA but invariably have branches around the world.

instead of putting area tors you can put injectors

From injectors you will get good results.

Air and feed will be automise each other and your purpose will be served.

Try an aerator made by Flygt - it consists of a centrifugal water pump pushing water through a venturi, and the venturi has a snorkel to "breathe" fresh air. Depending on the biological oxygen demand (your BOD5 value) and the retention time in the tank you can size the aerator. All this will probably be better (cheaper) than a blower, and you will have a good and fine air bubble size to provide maximum oxygen dispersal throughout the tank. Also consider using a biological agent suited to your application, i.e. get the right species of bug to break down the effluent. Your local water treatment company will help. You will also need a settlement tank to allow dead bugs to settle out and be removed by some means - such as an air flotation system helped by a flocculating agent. Again, a local water treatment expert may be able to put something together for you.

I hope this helps - Regards, Wetdsj

BOD5 IS BIOCHEMICAL, NOT BIOLOGICAL 5 DAY OXYGEN DEMAND. A VERY COMMON MISTAKE EVEN BY ENVIRONMENTAL AGENCIES

I agree with guest 2 what you need is aeration and circulation this is best done with a Flygt pump and Ejector go to www.flygt.com and they will either do a design for you or put you in touch with their local agent they are world wide so you should have no trouble getting help. An alternative is an aeromix unit floating pontoon system these also work very well and they also have a free design service www.aeromix.com

Both companies offer a process guarantee

You might want to look into Aire-O2. I helped install one system several years back (well, okay, more than several years back). I was very impressed with it.

As you are specifying that plant capacity 120 m3/d. So let us consider a case in which the BOD is 250 ppm in that case you require an aeration tank with minimum volume of 110 m3 ( 22 hrs retention) . Like wise Air blower can be sized as 283 m3/hr @ 5 m (40 deg C, 700 M ) accordingly you will require 24 difussers each with capacity of 12 m3/hr.

Hope this will help you
