Chemical Engineering Costing

07/21/2018 12:36 PM

Does anyone have the Plant Cost Index for 2018??? I searched online and it's not accessible anywhere w/o a subscription... I have to estimate a cost for a shell and tube heat exchanger and need those indices for 2018, any help would be appreciated!

Just add a disclaimer.....Prices subject to change due to market conditions, tariffs, trade wars etc....

Are you kidding? 166 pages?

Aren't there any CliffsNotes???

@Krissssy,

And what, exactly is your job, or is this your college/school project? Have you contacted any boiler makers for rough quotes? It sounds like that's all you need.

Or, are you just trying to get the forum to do your homework for you?

Firstly, I am a college student and I'm asking if anyone has the resource available... I did not ask for anything else but the cost indices for 2018 to complete my cost estimate. It's not available online, that's why I asked... no need to be like that :(

Maybe, you could find the cost of a similar older shell-and-tube exchanger, and then estimate the costs to present-day amounts, by applying CPI values in a spreadsheet, to get total(s) good enough for estimate(s) for schoolwork, today...

Have you looked into a recent issue of ''Chemical Engineering'' magazine at it's inside back cover yet?...

Once you have calculated or know the input and output requirements of both the material to be heated/cooled as well as the heat transfer medium temperatures and pressures, contact a couple of manufacturers for quotes. (Don't mention that you are a student)
