What is it?

10/16/2018 7:05 AM

I saw this at a flea market, but I don't know what it is.

There were two of them. It looks like a type of clamp, but I don't know its purpose is.

I'm thinking it's a clamp-on handle for sheets of plywood or something similar so that they can be lifted and handled easier. JMHO

So you are the one who took them!!!!

I had to say that.

There's a T-nut on one side and what looks like a securing eyelet on the other where the locking wheel resides. My WAG is this is used for rack cable management to provide a point where cabling can be secured.

How big is it? Is the 'D' shaped handle-looking part big enough to use as a handle?

If so, I'd say it's for clamping onto a sheet of <some kind of rigid material> - one each side - to manually lift it.

Guess the same could apply to lifting with hooks or webbing straps, so maybe size isn't so important.

Were they at least for a good price

The ones in your picture may be from a bed extender.

I don't own a vehicle that uses these or a Nissan so past that I don't know. I found them since I suspected they were some sort of cargo tie down.

Now he just needs some unistrut to bolt down in the bed...and some ratchet strips...and 2 more of them....wait , where's the guy that found all those square washers?

If we keep putting all these "what is it's" in a pile we may have something someday....

The metal shoe on the left goes into a T slot and the thumbwheel in the center tightens it and locks it in place. It looks like it was set up to have a lanyard through the loop in the bail, which may or may not swivel a bit. It looks like a removable lanyard clip, handle or perhaps an adjustable stop of some sort. I have similar fittings as stops on my CNC router, but they have a flat on one side to act as a work stop.

Since they have already been identified, I'll give my first reaction when viewing the picture: clamps for some daredevil to climb the side of a building.
