The Pages of History

10/29/2018 1:36 PM

The pages of history are full of "inventions" and human exploits. We take for granted the invention, and exploits of our western foundations. Historic documents were put together by far thinking "inventers" to form a more perfect union (republic). These incredible documents, I feel, have been so taken for granted, that they go completely unnoticed and not seen by school kids. Since these papers are at the core of "US" , why not being them forward again? I notice that C-span has a 50 state bus tour, why not put the Federalist Papers on tour with their own bus. People can take it or leave it, but I think curiosity wins every time. These documents are just as much "engineering" as anything else.

"The Federalist 2

Concerning Dangers from Foreign Force and Influence
Jay for the Independent Journal.

To the People of the State of New York:
WHEN the people of America reflect that they are now called upon to decide a question, which, in its consequences, must prove one of the most important that ever engaged their attention, the propriety of their taking a very comprehensive, as well as a very serious, view of it, will be evident.

Nothing is more certain than the indispensable necessity of government, and it is equally undeniable, that whenever and however it is instituted, the people must cede to it some of their natural rights in order to vest it with requisite powers. It is well worthy of consideration therefore, whether it would conduce more to the interest of the people of America that they should, to all general purposes, be one nation, under one federal government, or that they should divide themselves into separate confederacies, and give to the head of each the same kind of powers which they are advised to place in one national government.

It has until lately been a received and uncontradicted opinion that the prosperity of the people of America depended on their continuing firmly united, and the wishes, prayers, and efforts of our best and wisest citizens have been constantly directed to that object. But politicians now appear, who insist that this opinion is erroneous, and that instead of looking for safety and happiness in union, we ought to seek it in a division of the States into distinct confederacies or sovereignties. However extraordinary this new doctrine may appear, it nevertheless has its advocates; and certain characters who were much opposed to it formerly, are at present of the number. Whatever may be the arguments or inducements which have wrought this change in the sentiments and declarations of these gentlemen, it certainly would not be wise in the people at large to adopt these new political tenets without being fully convinced that they are founded in truth and sound policy."....cont...

The Independent Journal, and many powerful anti federalists (working for the King), did everything in their power to stop the concept of Federalism. For over a year they battled tooth and nail with the few men who put their lives on the line for an idea. The "idea" took the form of 85 essays, and became the foundation of Western government. 3 or 4 brave soles, came forward every day, for over a year, and won the day against incredible odds. Their idea was a Republic, not a Democracy. They choose a Republic over a popular king, knowing that majority rules, only works for the ruling class. The Federalist Papers are so well written, even though "old school", they have stood the test of time. The 1788 media attacked vigorously, but the words rang hollow. I wish that schools would teach how important some old school reading and writing is. Imagine "texting " the Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers. Swiping is the new norm today. I can't imagine the future for our kids.

The New York media has had their hair on fire since 1788.

some people actually read and are curious, history has been swiped, but in black and white it remains our foundation. they can be read. the cream rises to the top. "without curiosity there is no knowledge " let us get inventive.
