Check out this product:

I found the link to this on a Yahoo! group I used to frequent, if this is not exactly what you are looking for, I suggest you check out the Yahoo! group called "Internet by Cell Phone". If you can't find the answer by searching, I'm sure a posting will get an answer pretty quickly. I understand your frustration, I've setup a computer for each person in the house, so they stay off of mine!

The link that tdesmit gave is a good one. The Kyocera router should work fine for you.

One of the neat things about using a router like this is the ability to upgrade your connection card. This means that you can take advantage of whatever the latest and greatest technology is by simply changing your card. Currently, Alltel is offering Release 0 of EVDO -- with average speeds up to 2.4 Mbps (Downlink) -- but the average throughput will be in the 400 - 700 kbps range. Compare this to EVDO Rev A, which offers higher speeds -- but is only available through Sprint and Verizon currently.

Final caution -- the connection card manufacturers are moving away from PC cards and will likely focus almost exclusively on USB connectors in the future. Of course, that doesn't mean whatever you buy today will stop working, but will have an impact in a few years when you want/need to replace the card or the router.
