New Construction Material Available

10/01/2007 10:23 AM

In reading the science daily reports, found a new material which may not only revolutionize the air craft industry, but produce lighter and stronger construction material for construction and automobiles. The article is titled:

"New Material For Aircraft Wings Could Save Billions".

Looks good and anything that makes flying safer and aircraft lower cost has to be good for everyone. Wonder if it could be used for ships too?

I suspect it can be used anywhere aluminum can be used. I see it as used in automobiles, ships, and even in home and building construction, anywhere light weight and strength are required. The carbon fiber is noted for its outstanding strength. I would not be surprised to see it even suggested for parts of the proposed space elevator.

A more cost effective structure would be to create wings that would fall off in mid-flight. The outlay for the law suits wouldn't even touch the cost of tickets.

Besides, what airline company wants to be servicing engines and fuselages into the distant future!!!
