Yes I was looking at the pictures earlier, it's hard to imagine what the surface must be like, but it sure looks scary...There's really nothing to compare it to....

Now you are clearly taking the pee, Lyn. That is clearly a negative of black cat in a coal cellar.
Funny thing is, I can get the image if I click a box in upper LHS when posting a reply. It's only there in the reply/edit screen. Next time I loggin I'll try Chrome or whatever. Firefox seems to have gone downhill of late.
I can see as described above that the image is there, it just doesn't immediatly show on Firefox. Anybody else had the same ?

Thanks everybody for the replies. John, do you hold shares or something ?
I'm runing the latest version, so am a bit flumoxed. Firefox can be a bit fickle at times, so I'll live with it for a week before tinkering. Forgot to login via Chrome/whatever, so I'll give it a bash later. Once again, mucho thanks to all for comments - this time I know I only thought I had lost the plot. Therapy ain't cheap .

There was an old sci-fi anthology called Nine Tomorrows that includes a short story set on the surface of Jupiter. The commander of the mission has sent several crewmembers out to explore and they haven't returned. (They go "out" as avatars of the local inhabitants, rarely sensed but known to exist). He finally decided to send two more, himself and his old canine companion.
They go out, but they experience the beauty of Jupiter as natives, not as visitors. The last line, a conversation as they decide not to return, is "They would turn me back into a dog", "And me into a man".
