Hurricane force winds can force water into small cracks that normally wouldn't leak, but does expose weak spots and places that need repair....It's a good idea after a hurricane to look for any water that has entered the house, including walls, windows, attic space etc, and start your repairs...It appears you have exposed a problem area around your chimney, any irregularity is a potential leak...seal it up

Yes, with time it is a certainty...
These things need maintenance, even on a brick built property.

Yes, it is possible.

Leaks are never merely cosmetic. Leaks are always a structural concern.

Possible,... bring a couple sticks of tar for repair... or any other type of sealant

problem with a leak, it could draw and run from the actual point where it leaks.

i suppose there’s not a way to the attic to see.
