Mobile waste water treatment system

10/04/2007 10:41 AM

Our township is currently dumping sewer/wastewater to a nearby treatment plant, at a cost of over $1.5 million/year. Does anyone have any experience with leased mobile facilities provided maintained by Trent Severn? It seems it would be a benefit to us, but we need unbiased input as to how this program has worked for anyone who is using it or considered this or any other company's program. Any input is welcome.

This is out of my domain but looking at it, can't give an answer don't not know what size of town or volume of waste, or the transport of. To be able to do a comparison.

You should Google "Membrane filters". They are coming of age for small to medium wastewater plants.

You didn't state your town's daily wastewater output, so it would be impossible to estimate the cost. However, it would appear that a membrane bioreactor would be the best solution for your town. Their main advantage is that by comnining the conventional activated sludge process with ultrafiltration, they produce a very fin grade of effluent with small space requirements. They are pretty costly though, although in the long run they may be more economical for your town.

I agree with the MBR + UF. Very robust, proven technology. Little if no operator oversight needed, mobile units can be quickly deployed. Other vendors besides Severn Trent include Zenon (Now GE Water). Also, with the UF the effluent could be used as make-up water to nearby industrial use. Where is your plant located?
