I happen to be working currently on the electrical/hydraulic systems of a 1000 Ton press, built in 1977. These videos make our unit seem pretty small!

Those films are from the '50s, when our (the US's) manufacturing capability was high. I'd love to know what our current capabilities are.

Very good video on heavy presses.

It is interesting to note that propaganda is contained within this screenplay.

A. It is mentioned that the United States, " Acquired " , press technology from Germany during and at the conclusion of the 2nd world war.

To the layman, the terminology " Acquired " , might be translated as, purchased or borrowed.

B. It is mentioned that Russia, " Walked off " with press technology at the end of the war.

To the layman, " Walked off " , might be translated as, stolen or in some manner cheated.

I would surmise that one of the reasons why videos of this type are no longer produced is because foreign engineers, with a trained eye of manufacturing processes, could garner quite a bit of insight towards machinery development in their economic development without fair compensation to the host country (ies) .

..."War reparations are payments made after a war by the vanquished to the victors. They are intended to cover damage or injury inflicted during a war. Generally, the term war reparations refers to money or goods changing hands, but not to the annexation of land."...

Everybody who fought against Germany in WW ll was owed reparations..."After World War II, according to the Potsdam conference held between July 17 and August 2, 1945, Germany was to pay the Allies US$23 billion mainly in machinery and manufacturing plants."

No propaganda here...
