10/07/2007 3:54 PM

I have a band saw machine used to cut the HRC of X70 grade material, i am using HSS blade, also i am supposed to change the blade atleast once in 24 hours, so i am investing more money for this. Anyone kindly say me that, what blade (material) should i use of this HRC material.

If cutting with bandsaw is your only option use a bandsaw blade with solid carbide tipped teeth.

replace the saw with cut off saw with variable speed motor. you can get circular saw blades with cermets tips instead of carbide. with a controlled feed will 2 to 3 times the life of carbide and about 10 over high speed steel.

It seems that I am often in agreement with the ozzb on such issues. no exception here.

chopsaws, radial arm, band etc are all pretty cheap for general applications. Some experimentation might help.

Perhaps calling around to other companies/competitors to see what they are doing.
