Looks like a mold for making a pottery flask or bottle. The threaded piece on the end is for air pressure to expand the inside of the mold,or for spinning the mold to force the slurry against the walls of the mold.

The holes are for pouring in the clay mixture(slip) and the straw will absorb the excess moisture and will make a beautiful unique pattern in the piece when fired.

No.

It doesn't appear to be for making pottery I don't think that's straw in there

Eureka! You've found it! It must be the original prototype for the very first (roadway-reflecter/Bott's-dot) ?...

... I'm thinking of the old orange reflector powered by lantern batteries that...some foolish youthful people might snap off of their orange and white striped plywood horse to decorate their dude pad?

It’s Fred Flintstone’s original computer mouse. Those round circles held rods that poked the little mouse inside, to make him go up/down/left/right.

.. no just this in and anvil / coffee table that I only drooled over in the hypothetical sense.

...I have since bartered for an interesting unknown anvil ..but not via Craigslist.

Right now it's just sitting out in the cold.

Too small for a coffee table.

Railroad track anvils are anvils. I used to beat on one that's still in my dad's garage. Mine is 100kg.

Railroad anvils are a great place to begin, but unless you're a jeweler, the size and weight leaves something to be desired..

Serious Smith might say the same about my 100kg model.

The effort to make a railroad anvil have a hard flat top and a horn etc. Is seldom worth the effort as it will never have the bells and whistles of a hefty London style anvil.

Just a WAG: what about a crown for an elephant's tooth.

A WAG from down under. The internal cavity shape seems to be "oval" rather than round in section.

It maybe a mould for something like a glass hip flask. The fibre was probably covered with a smooth surface and the threaded bit formed an inside thread for the neck.

The threaded part could then be removed and collapse the inner shape to come out. The holes were to allow excess material to escape the mould.

Otherwise, you need some lemon juice and the original Magna Cater to find where the templar knights really hid the treasure.

Looks like a plug of concrete with filler poured into a section of curb strip to act as a base for a stanchion or handrail. Looks like it fell out and someone donated it to a thrift store as "Art".

Aha!

A 20,000-year-old transformer found in Kosovo

If this isn't a hoax it really is a mystery worth a lot of investigation.

The ones she points to first just look like catherine wheels; the "light sabers" are a bit more puzzling.

Very puzzling. I'd like to see more images and information. I've seen that type of sword, but not in an drawing like this.

A coprolite encased transformer.. would be transformative..

For the record I don't agree with everything Sylvia says, but I do enjoy listening.

I don't think she does either.

Could be! I remember Godzilla eating the power lines!

He might have used the insulators and transformers as roughage.

Carnivores need fiber too!

Carnivores don't need roughage in their diets. They just die for different reasons.
