Planetary Gear Calculation

03/26/2019 3:06 PM

Dear all,

I have one question regarding planetary gear. I want to reduce from 170rpm on sun gear to 10rpm in ring gear. How can I achieve this ration to ring gear?

Is there a formula that could help me to solve this problem or some document that I can try to learn about planetary gear

I saw a lot of video on youtube but I don't know how to solve for this specific example

Sun gear is a diameter of 70mm, ring gear should not be more then 195mm(smaller is better)

Thank you for your replies

That is a 17:1 reduction ratio where a two stage planetary is needed or another kind of gearing.

Thank your for the reply.

I saw this video but still I try to solve mathematical calculation but don't understand how to do it. Do you have any idea how to calculate it?
