The DoE has tons of projects they are currently working on in the alternate or green energy field, take your pick. I am working on one myself (not as DoE but as a private citizen using The DoE as a guide). You may use my site for a project if you like. I am planning to have three turnkey skids, fuel cell and hydrogen generation skid, syngas and liquids skid, and a bio-digestion skid, which the individual home builder or owner can install of retrofit. I need a process flow diagram, mechanical flow diagrams, skid layouts, detail drawings, and operation/maintenance drawings/details for the home builder/owner. This would be an excellent project for you and for the world in general. You may use any and all parts of this project providing you provide me and the DoE with copies of all drawings and details. I would use my copies to complete "My Earthbound Space Station".

This is my attempt to do what I can do to help reverse the global warming trend and by making this available to the entire world, to help fight poverty and promote world piece. I also promote free continued adult education via distance learning and point to MIT's open course ware for everyone.
