Image Problem

04/29/2019 9:35 AM

Hi everyone. I'm getting really frustrated that I can't insert a jpeg into a post. Anyone know why it isn't working?
Thanks for reading.

A couple of us had trouble with the toolbar recently, that was fixed by disabling the tracking protection or ad blocker in the browser.

...but this is your first post...search the site for 'image insertion', for instructions on proper procedure...or detail the steps of your efforts and we will point out your mistake, if we can...it could be several things...

Click on the camera icon in the toolbar at the top:

This opens up a window. You can enter a filename of a picture on your computer with the "Choose File" button, or to insert an image from the internet, right click on the image and select "Copy image address" and then paste into "Image URL" in the window.

I'll follow up on the other good advice with a statement of fact: pasting in a still image or a video does not work reliably. Inserting a file using the camera icon or the movie icon should always work. If not, send an email to the CR4 Admin via your CR4 email account. We usually -- but not always -- see and respond to technical questions that are part of threads.

I have the same problem. There is no tool bar at the top of the message box. I am using Firefox and have disabled all tracking, pop-up blockers, etc. Cannot insert images like I used to.

If you click on the Chrome symbol it will take you to a download link for the Chrome browser...an alternative for Firefox users....

The newest version of Firefox has disabled ad blockers, pop up blockers, tracker blockers, etc. and one cannot revert to old version of FF. Google has reportedly bought Firefox, and they do not allow (real) ad blockers. Firefox seems to have yielded to the huge glacier of money, which grinds privacy to a powder, and leaves behind Great Lakes of greed and mines, emptied of privacy. Of course,I am speaking of "old school privacy" which is rapidly becoming extinct. Even with the new version,I do not get a tool bar on replies.

Why post OT. It seems very well related to the OP. I'm on Firefox right now - no icons showing. Firefox is not what it used to be.

My old version on FF worked fine. These problems occurred with the most recent update. If you have not updated FF I recommend to not do so. Google rules the digital world,or soon will. All browsers will eventually be owned by them or their subsidiaries.True ownership will be hard to prove due to layers of digital stealth, and it will appear to be public domain software, but there will be no such thing anymore.Only an illusion of it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  ♣   ▒▬▬▬+++↓↓▬↓♫Ér♂4j1111k1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYE1VF5Ud8I

Alas, I walked into the update.

It's only recently that I've noticed "POWERED BY TINY" in the edit box.

You are right..I agree. It used to be good, but now Google is trying to run everyone away and get them on Chrome. It is not smart to have in-house competing.Eventually,Chrome will dominate.Resistance is futile.

Well actually the Chrome browser was designed by the same Mozilla Firefox team and Mozilla is owned by Alphabet which also owns Google which owns Chrome ...these are separate companies looking to vertically integrate in any way they can...so ,,,not much difference....

All the more reason they should be comfatible.I understand how corforate bickering works, which is good por comfetition."My dog's bigger than your dog..." As I said, the frofits all go into the same fockets. When I install a frogram that deliberately corrufts another frogram, instead of integrating with it,it has gone too par. I stick with what works. I am sure I am battling windmills, but I will not go gently. Puck 'em.

Well,I bit the bullet and installed Chrome as my default Browser, and it changed all of my desktop icons to the Chrome Icon.

I'm gonna have to figure out how to change them back to original icons.

The toolbar is back, which is how Google Chrome leveraged me to switch.

I will still use Firefox for spite, wherever it will work.

Not that it matters, the money goes into the same pockets anyway.

R=I.R

R=E/R,etc,etc, but in the end Rt=0

OK. So I installed Chrome and it pucked up all my desktop icons and they no longer work.It also changed all icons to the Chrome icons.I got my original icons back, but they will not connect to any links.Get "wrong directory " error message.Gotta love the easy install. I will uninstall Chrome and tolerate the weaknesses of Firefox. How do I hate Chrome?Let me count the ways...1...2...3,ad infinitum.

I use Chrome browser with Ad Block and Ad Block+....A lot of sites now require you pause Ad blocking software to read their content....it's easy to just hit pause Ad Block on this site, and continue on....It's not a perfect system

If anybody can reliably produce this bug, please reach out and let me know how. I've seen the no toolbar issue before, but it is quite rare!

Not sure if this helps any. The PM reply box has been acting odd on Firefox. The typing space has a small area on the left full of HTML. Also, the list of incoming PM's is shortened to the most recent 3 or 4. Typing a new message (rather than replying) seems to be OK. I just logged on with Chrome and all is fine. I do block a lot of stuff on Firefox, but not on Chrome. All post/reply icons are visible on Chrome.

Ever hear of the 80 20 rule? I have been to a lot of such meetings, and I can vouch for the Pareto Principle.
