Seeking A Specific Measurement Instrument

10/12/2007 7:27 AM

Hello,

I am working as a diagnostic engineer for rotary kiln in India.

  1. I am looking for a non-contact electronic device to measure support and roller detection. Usually these deflection is of the order of 0.02 to 0.07 mm.
  2. Can we connect the instrument to a computer and record data for further analysis?

Can anybody suggest a suitable instrument and the name of a supplier?

Thanks
Sameer

Hi techno,

I would have looked for a pressure sensor on the shaft of the bearings but that means redesign of course. Your site is fantastic and I have added it to my favourites.

Thanks for that.

You may want to check with a manufacturer like Baluff, you are looking for a laser distance (range sensor) - I am not sure about the small resolution you are looking for. Cost will be high, computer connectivity is easily possible and recomendedwithout a PLC, as the output of the sensor is an analog voltage.

I hope this helps, Mirco Graenert - canstamp - Canada

How about a non-contact displacement transducer?
