Electric Power Generating Tower in Brazil

10/16/2007 10:28 AM

Does anyone know about the electric power generator tower in Brazil that uses solar and wind energy?

As the air temperature increases its density decreases and the air goes up to a nozzle. The velocity of the air moves a fan that is above the nozzle, which then produces electric energy....

Does anyone know where I can find documents about this topic and if so, are there pictures of the tower available?

I can't find any information about it. Do you know where it is located within Brazil?

There are some experiences in Brazil northeast coast with wind generation(eolic generation).

The ones who research this are the engineers from CHESF, a brazilian large transmisson and generation company.

You may contact them and ask this information(www.chesf.gov.br).

Incidentally they also have a research program for solar generation: they have an "island of solar generation" inside one northeast state called Pernambuco.

A complete city is fed by means of solar generation.

I applaud the Brazilians for their willingness to try these ideas and would like to see similar research/demo units tried in the US. But then again, I suspect they dont have the same governmental restrictions that we have.

Does anyone know about the electric power generator tower in Brazil that uses solar and wind energy?

Answer : Only Brazilians

As the air temperature increases its density decreases and the air goes up to a nozzle. The velocity of the air moves a fan that is above the nozzle, which then produces electric energy....

Thank you for the valuable information. God bless you.

Does anyone know where I can find documents about this topic and if so, are there pictures of the tower available?

Answer : Try Canada

Finally I believe Canada is doing this and after completion it will the TALLEST Structure in the World with their present CNN Tower a miniture compared.

Last I recall seeing a photograph . The Tower was someting like an inverted funnel expanding below the size of a football ground and extending upward maybe six times the size of CNN Tower.

This kind of generation I have notice in Australia.

It is a 250meters diameter glass base under which water exist.

When the sun hits the glass the water raise its temperature in such a way that vapour is generated.

This vapour is conveyed to a chemney and the cinetic energy of the vapour turns a wheel and the later drives a generator which converts this energy to electric energy.
