After 100 years, the wheel is still round. That hasn't changed, but everything else about the wheel has.

Cool find, SE. It's one thing to see antiques static in a museum. It's awe inspiring to see them in motion. Makes you wonder what it was like when those (steam tractors, Model T's, etc.) were the only vehicles on the road.

It sure puts things in perspective...

The big changes are in styling. The form factor hasn't changed much though. Engine in front, round things on the bottom, cargo in the back and driver behind the engine and in front of the cargo. A truck is still recognizable as a truck.

I could see a greater change in the near future when the engine compartment goes away with at-the-wheel drive motors come on line and elimination of the driver if autonomous control becomes effective. I still don't see a way to get the round things off the bottom unless you abandon the ground and fly.

Haha well maybe....

Maybe everything will be autonomous flying hunter killers that can walk or fly....

Further into the future, assuming that the energy problems are solved, there could be any kind of 'luxury vehicle' development with fuel that's non polluting and stable priced. Why not fly or hovercraft.

We could finally get nuclear powered vehicles....In fact we could have them now with improved shielding...
