ESA working on Self-healing Spacecraft

01/23/2006 11:24 AM

Neat stuff from the European Space Agency (ESA). Self-healing spacecraft! They are working on technology that could replicate the human process of healing.

This would be huge news if they could pull it off. We know how difficult it is to repair ships in orbit and we've all the tragic consequences of ships that are damaged during launch and structurally weakened when they perform re-entry. It would also mean great things for communications as satellites, probes and telescopes could be built using the same technology.
