What's that?

I know Kapton tape uses silicon adhesive and it is available at Digikey. Is that what you need?

Thank you for responding.

Transfer tapes are used for transferring adhesive from liner to substrate. It is a pressure sensitive adhesive. Double liner transfer tapes are used for binding two substrates together. Strip off one of the liners and apply to substrate 1; strip off second liner and adhere substrate 1 to substrate 2. Usually uses acrylic as the adhesive. Silicone is used in very extreme environments (cold, heat, chemical exposure, etc) where other adhesives will break down. Usually comes with two liners; looking for sources that either manufacture or distribute single liner silicone transfer tapes.

Thank you for the response. Amazingly enough, 3M does not manufacture a single liner silicon adhesive transfer tape. All their transfer tapes are double liner.

We currently use a single liner transfer tape from NITTO, but it doesn't have silicone adhesive, since we only need to go up to 130C. Perhaps they might have a silicone adhesive one available.

Thank you for responding. Would you mind if I gave you a call to discuss how you're currently using (applications) the single liner tape? I'm doing some research in this area. If you're agreeable to a discussion, please provide contact info. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

We have a 2 mil silicone transfer tape with two liners. Have the technology for a 1 liner product depending on your volume to support coating production. Do have a double coated polyester with silicone adhesive both sides and ONE LINER as an option. Email me at gking@specialtytapes.net

There are several excellent sources for SI transfer tapes, including dis-similar tapes (SI one side / Acrylic other). Try dialectric polymers - http://www.dipoly.com/ Custom Adhesives (single and double coated) http://www.customadhesiveproducts.com/products.php Viadon http://www.viadon.com/tapes11.htm or Lamtek http://www.lamatek.com/products/tapes/ . Many of the suppliers for this are involved in electrical tapes.

Good luck!

Silicone transfer tape is adhesive only. Most have two release liners. We could do a single liner.

A double coated silicone has a carrier (usually Polyester) with the adhesive on both sides. Also available with one release liner.

There are many choices and features to both transfer tapes and double coated tapes which offer various advantages depending on the substrates involved.
