Butadiene Level Transmitter leg filled with NMP

10/24/2007 12:18 AM

While measuring butadiene level in a vessel, the the transmitter legs are filled with solvent NMP( N-methylpyrrolidene). Density of NMP is 1.03 gm/CC while that of Butadiene is 0.638 gm/cc.

My question is , will it affect the level measurement accuracy.

What sort of transmitter? Pressure? Differential pressure?

What are the heights of the legs compared to the level in the vessel?

Difference in density must be taken into account mathmatically when working on the differnce in hieght. As long as this is done accuracy should not be a problem. Other than that fill your legs with Butadiene the same as in the vessel then SG is not relivent.
