Oil Contamination

hello everyone,

we are running a cone crusher with power pack.

The oil in the power pack was getting foam within one week of operation. I am using the oil as per specified by the manufacturer and i have replaced the power pack with new filters but still couldn't able to stop the foam.

Just because you believe you are doing everything exactly as the manufacturer specifies, it doesn't mean you are doing everything the right way. Contact the manufacturer of the tool. The color, bubble size and a host of other attributes of the oil and foam may tell them that you have (accidentally?) added a contaminant to the oil or a tiny air leak is getting introduced.

Could you perhaps have a leak that is allowing air into the system and hence the oil?

What does the manual and the manufacturer say?

"The causes of foaming are many. The most common include:

  • Water contamination
  • Solids contamination
  • Depleted defoamant (possibly due to the use of excessively fine filtration and electrostatic separation technologies)
  • Mechanical issues (causing excessive aeration of the fluid)
  • Overfilling of the sump with splash- and bath-lubricated compartments
  • Cross contamination of the fluid with the wrong lubricant
  • Contamination of the fluid with grease
  • Too much defoamant additive, either by incorrect formulation or by incorrect reconstruction (sweetening) of the additive package"

If I were you, Mildred, I’d stop messing around on here and get the equipment manufacturer’s representative in on a service visit. After all, you can use the telephone, can’t you?

yes, you should consult mfg.

He may be having experience/familiar with such problems with his designed equipment. And definately ...how to remove the problem...
