DC or AC High Voltage Control

10/25/2007 4:07 AM

hi everybody

before i am sorry my terrible english

i wanna control a current at 16kv dc voltage, how do i do that?

i will use that for a CO2 laser unite.

if someone have interested that, pls help me about that...

thanks...

Typically, you would control the power supply that is creating the 16kV, in stead of trying to control/switch the 16kV. A suitable supply for the application would have a way to disable the high-voltage output, as well as control the output power/current. Please make sure you know what you are doing before playing with high-voltage and high power lasers, or you might get a surprise.

thank you for your inquiry

we are working on that machine's service, and we wanna produce our own laser machine, firstly high voltage like 16kv is used in the CO2 laser machines. so the 16kv(DC) can be provided. they can control the current in the 16kv(DC) with power tetrodes( COVIMAG ). but there are some other methods and i would like to know how can i do it, if you need for answer i can send you some schemas for this application.

Murat,

My comments were based on my knowledge of electronics, my experience with laser circuitry is very limited. It appears there are others here that are certainly more experienced in lasers, hopefully they can get you headed in the right direction.

voltage and current are controlled by individual.

they are two systems. you can build two ppwer, one for 16kv or 35kv one for current.

wha ts your current value? ma.

the input of transformer is 380V 45A, the output is 16kv and 72ma, after that we convert this voltage DC, i wanna create a pulsed voltage, how can i switch on and switch off this voltage in safety

45A or 4.5A?

Im afraid that will be 4.5A

certainly you should use a insolation pulse transformer.

In fact you can buy sperate one power for your laser. its not too expensive.
