Pipe Schedules in Europe

10/25/2007 9:51 AM

Does anyone know if in Europe the Pipe Schedule (40, 80) terminology is used to identify piping? Is there's any other Standard to identify piping in Europe, what would that be?

Thanks,

Alexis O. Rosario

Go here for a look at DIN Standards

alexisrm,

In mainland Europe, pipe is manufactured to DIN standards (see below)

Of course, here in Europe we have standards (DIN, EN, etc) that deals with piping thicknesses and diameters expressed in mm, but is very common to use NPS in inches and schedules according to ANSI. Any piping supplier in Europe, either manufacturer or not, usually supply piping according to USA standards (dimensional and materials).

The use of one or other standards depends usually in the nationality of the main engineering/supplier of the project.

For example, a lot of Combined Cycle Powewr Plants have been ( or are being) erected in Europe during the few years of 21st century. In most cases, when the gas turbine supplier is General Electric, we use USA standards, if the supplier is ABB, the standards user use to be european ones.
