Problem in Continuous Casting of Resulfurized Steel

03/30/2020 10:59 PM

Hello. I am Javad, working at Esfahan's Mobarakeh Steel Company. Our faculty decided to produce free cutting steels (analysis: 0.05% C - 0.003% Al - 0.05% P - 0.3% S - 0.9% Mn - 70 ppm B) through CCM. At first try there was a breakout because of sticking to mold. Would you mind answering my question?

How can I prevent breakout?

How can I figure out that all of the liquids solidify in Monotectic and does not remain any liquid to solidify in Pretectic?

Is 0.9 Mn enough to preventing FeS production?

Thank you!

Hello. Thanks to your notice. At the first link the composition of some kinds of free cutting steels was discussed, at the second the probability of nozzle blocking because of CaS was discussed.According to break out at first try , I looking for ways to minimize the FeS production.

You might try increasing the manganese content a bit...
