Discharge Tube Used in CO2 Laser

05/18/2020 8:19 AM

conducting a project with co2 laser used in 3d printing( low power bellow 100w) fabricating biomaterials for scaffold in bone tissue. the focus is finding global potential of the single component of co2 laser used, the discharge tube.

The discharge tube can be used in any other type of machine/technology other than the low power co2 laser?

The best bet is to engage a local Marketing specialist, because this is an Engineering forum.

and they told me to ask laser engineers if this single component of a low power CO2 laser can be use in another technology

When you say "this single component", based on the original post, I assume that you are referring to the discharge tube. Without RF and DC power supplies, and control circuitry, That single component is essentially useless.

Repeating what TINAC said, "less than 100 Watts" is NOT low power. A machine I built 16 years ago made thousands of short cuts through thin metal at about four cuts per second using a 125W CO2 laser.

I haven't kept up to date, so I don't know the current cost/availability of Solid State Lasers at IR or other wavelengths, but I presume that they are much easier to repurpose... Do some research.

You could use it for an engraving machine, or laser etching....

To get this out of the way 100 Watts is not really a low power laser. It won't be burning up satellites in orbit when you fire it from down here on Earth, but 100 watt IR laser is serious.

Other than lasing, there are a number of ways a CO2 laser could be used with various setups and perhaps slight modification.

-Photomultiplier for detecting various ionizing radiation...

- condenser for distillation

- liquid/gas heat exchanger

- IR source for exciting phosphors.

- Pump for higher frequency lasing.

- high power electronic component exhibiting negative resistance over a voltage range.

- large manual stir stick for mixing which must be very gentle. Stick self limits and destructively indicated excessive stirring force..

- can be incorporated into a device to strongly discourage pogo stick participation for recalcitrant pogo addiction cases.

Re: Discharge Tube used in co2 Laser . RhinoCapillus Hat Clinical Trial

"RhinoCapillus Hat" Call for Clinical Trials

Someone needs to figure out how to accelerate regrowth of the pirated fashion signature of these poor beasts. Is 1w enough ? Is 100w too much ? Does it require actual lasers or will unregimented discharge tube photons work ? Only their horndresser knows for sure. And even horndressers have to wait for official scientific analysis for safety and effectiveness. Prosthetic devices are poorly tolerated by most victims. We need clinical trials for laser regrowth treatment with a full range of laser flux dosage including high intensity, low duty cycle regimens since laser tube hats are probably at least as undesirable to newly de-horned rhinos as prosthetic horns. Carbon dioxide laser tubes are fragile so it is important to stock lots of spares so the clinical trial treatments can be completed as planned. Global potential should be adjusted to account for the likely high device losses in the field.

Thank You SE,

I knew I could depend on you to provide actual images for my mental image concept. I thought about photoshopping your discharge tube picture in various stages of destruction onto the noses of a herd of gnarly looking rhinos, but it struck me that in less time than it would take me to figure out how to implement it, you would provide on target visual stimulus so I dozed off instead. A few light Z's and voila, there it is !

A way, way gnarlier rhino gladiator with a prosthetic horn and with a cute chubby unicorn logo hat cherry on top. Do I "see" IR light under that hat ? Yep ! Did you need to reuse and corrupt the discharge tube image ? Nope. Kudos and...

GA for sure !

Thanks,SE for a little light hearted contribution in there somber times.

I suspect this rhino will have few challengers and have the females following him around.

He will no longer have the wobbly stride of a rhino, rather he will Strut, like a batter with 4 balls!

PS:Where can I order one of those caps?

SE,

How do I notify admin of a problem on this site?

I have tried to edit some posts and have plenty of time left, but the edit is refused because it states that I am out of time.

The problem is present in all of my attempts on all forums.

Thanks!
