DC Inverter Split Air Conditioners - Fault or Error codes

Dear All,

Could anyone share the details regarding DC Inverter based Split Air Conditioner commonly used for household & commercial cooling nowadays in capacity of 12000 BTU to 24000 BTUs, as these new advance technological based rotary brushless compressors ACs and are more energy efficient with the basic design of single phase 220V AC input with 3 phase 150 to 280V AC output with variable speed & PWM frequency operation.

These ACs comes with two separate units as IDU (Indoor Unit) & ODU (Outdoor Unit) with their respective controller boards inside.

Due to some malfunctions in these controller boards, most of these product manufacturers embed some FAULT or ERROR codes to identify the specific cause of problem, avoiding normal operation of the system.

A on board SMD RED & GREEN LEDs are placed to show some light patterns to symbolize the Errors.

On power up, RED LED start blink 11 times at 1Hz rate and stops for 3 seconds and starts doing it again for some specific hardware Error, but what?

I will highly appreciate if anyone could share these details, as most of the product manufacturers in Pakistan didn't provides the technical service manual for the same.

HAIER, KENWOOD, GREE, ORIENT and PEL are some good brands offered OEM products in this product category.

You need the brand name and model number to locate the owner's manual...also is the light you are observing on the indoor unit or the outdoor unit or the heating section, because they are not the same meaning....On this Gree unit 11 blinks can mean over-voltage protection(running lamp) or no feedback from indoor fan motor(cooling lamp), or if it's the heating section then it means start-up failure....I would look for a reset button...then check unit after start-up....

Thanks for sharing the related info.

Let me share the actual pictures of the Outdoor Unit Main Board populated with onboard standard SMPS with 15V, 12V, 5V & 3.3V DC outs.

IPM by Fairchild Semi for 3 Phase PWM out, IGBT with Fast Recovery Diode for PFC, Bridge Rectifier, MCU by STmicro and related components to make this equipment a good specs control board to generate 3 phase PWM Power to the Rotary compressor with brushless motor inside via single phase 220V AC input only.

The best thing is, almost all of the DC Inverter based ACs in our local market are approximately the same with the only difference in outlook & shape, design and generic IDU & ODU control boards parameters and circuitry.

Some of them are with HEAT & COOL feature but mostly are only COOL versions & standard IR Remote controlled systems. Even with Wi-Fi control also.

I just need the detailed schematic of IDU & ODU to decode the RED LED flashes in specific manner to show the actual faulty component.

I'll appreciate, if somebody share the circuit schematic for the same or identical.

Why the equipment wasn't supplied with an operation and maintenance manual is a curiosity, especially across 5 equipment manufacturers.

No success on the telephone, then?
