Cheapest heating in Alberta

Is it cheaper now to heat homes in southern Alberta with gas or electricity? Our gas bills were so high that we had it disconnected, and now we use only space heating with electricity, and a electric water tank. Also, does it cost as much to use 210v hard wired baseboard heat as using portable 1500 watt heaters?

Simply compare cost per BTU of gas to electricity per Kilowatt. You need to factor the energy efficiency of your gas heater. Electric heat is 100% efficient, but electric cost much more than gas.

Better insulation and controlled usage with thermostatic control for each room on a time basis.....mostly common sense.

I have never heard of a country where electricity was cheaper than gas for the same temperature in the same room.

Also try a wood pellet stove for basic needs.....I find them great, totally automatic!!!
