Electrochemical Etching

11/05/2007 3:45 AM

Hi Friends,

In Electroplating process, metal is deposited on metal with electric current. I want to do reverse, Etching by DC reverse current. What chemicals are used for etching SS and MS material? If you know about any books on this subject, please inform me.

Thanks,

DINESH PATEL.

I needed to etch out some butterfly valves from thin sheet metal.

what I did was paint the metal with a good automobile primer, then using a sharp scriber and wood pattern I traced out the shape. I then used a 5 gal plastic pail filled half way with water and disolved common table salt. used a 12 volt battery from my lawn tractor. took about 20 min. to etch out a nice clean piece
