SpaceX Return

So the astronauts on the SpaceX vehicle are set to splashdown later today.
Will they need to go through a 14-day quarantine like some other overseas arrivals?

45 years since the last splashdown. Hooray for SpaceX. It was worth the wait. Not only does time fly but also US astronauts in our own vehicles. Let's hope it is just the first of many positive events in a new cycle.
A reminder that it has not been 45 years since the United States went to space and returned utilizing our own means of transportation. From 1981 through 2011 the United States fleet of space shuttles flew 135 missions to space and back.
Space X will likely prove more to be economical than the space shuttles, but there is something about self-guided re-entry that seems more advanced to me than free-fall and subsequent splash down.
If it is any consolation to you, the rockets that boosted this capsule did self-guide themselves back for reuse. Come to think of it SpaceX is just doing things opposite of the Shuttle program. The Shuttle had boosters that splashed down for reuse and a payload that guided a re-entry. The SpaceX program guides the boosters down and splashes the payload.

I'm waiting till he lands his Starship and finally proves to all haters that he is a genius of our time. I'm glad that you and other people there are level-headed and perceive Elon and his achievements positively.
