"counter module, analog input, analog output , digital input & output module" wouldn't be found in a DCS. Most of the signals would go to and from various satellite PLCs via a network these days.

I'm not sure if I exactly understand your question, but we have both a Fisher Porter/Bailey and a Delta V DCS. Each of these utilize analog input, output and digital input & output modules. The Delta V does not have relay modules or isolated analog input modules. The FP utilizes a separate rack mounted power supply, while the Delta V has it's power supply and cpu mounted in a configuration much like you'd find with a PLC. Hope this is of some help.

Hi

im a Engineer with thirty year experience in DCS

and my opinion he is the following one

It is case the same with some variants by applications outposts

subsistems configurations(Controler , I/O´s interfases , processor data, operator station, ingenering station, Hi- density interfases, Comunications and Power supply)

Loops configirations (range, service, limits alarm, signal type)

Ambient or aplication configuratión (Dinamic Graphic en OS´s)

Reports Configurations(format, source of data, period)

The configuration is made generally on ES

I hope that my commentary helps

greetings you
