Soil Radiation on Mars

11/06/2007 10:32 PM

Hey,

Anyone knows whats the soil radiation on Mars? How it is compared to earth soil radiation? How does soil radiation changes in depths. Below is my data of earth radiation.

North American Average from all sources 2.0 mSv/y

Banff, Canada 1.5 mSv/y

Kerola, India 10 mSv/y

Ramsar, Iran 400 mSv/y

Internal Body doses

Natural isotopes 0.3 mSv/y

Heavy smoking 80 mSv/y

mSv/y means miliSievert per year and sievert is in J/kg

and 50 mSv/y is typically a limit dose per year for any person.

I believe that the above data are not entirely accurate.

I am not an expert, but I do recall in my collage science class a professor. Explained that radiation levels hit the earth varied dramatically depending on the time of year and other variables that slip my mind at the moment.
