Thanks SE. I'll have to add Nautilus Live to my favorites. Very cool.

These are so weird they could be from another planet...

They have evolved and live in a vastly different environment - cold, dark, high pressure...

Perhaps we are too conservative in estimating where life can exist. Life adapts to its environment.

It seems life always exists by consuming other life, it becomes a chicken or egg dilemma....What life exists that doesn't feed feed on other life forms in some way?

Animals eat both other animals and plants, but plants pretty much live off of minerals, water, and carbon dioxide, all of which are created without other life.

Don't plants require bacteria to break down minerals? Don't they rely on insects and birds to pollinate and procreate?

Trees just create humongous amounts of pollen, as allergy suffers can attest, spread by the wind, no insects involved. Many plants spread their seed by the wind.

Plants, I think, depend on fungi and bacteria to recycle their dead carcasses. It's kind of a symbiosis thing going on.

Only a few plants actually eat or consume other life, AFAIK.

Well I would consider byproducts of life as a part of life...
