Broken Evo III Electrode for High Temperature Roll (Separator)

10/30/2020 2:24 AM

Hi guys,

My company is a mining industry.

We recently install these electrodes on High Temperature Roll (HTR)Separator.

3 of them are broken until now.

After investigation, the root cause of this failure is still unknown.

Maybe some of you know?

Thanks and regards

Seems to me you are using the wrong type of electrode, or a defective part....but it's hard to see what's in the pictures without any explanation...

The Welder who carried out the one in the RH picture needs more practice.

That looks like it could be a picture of the failed element split open....Looks like electrolysis run wild, or electrostatic discharge grounding...so I would check the grounding connections and/or the sacrificial anode that might exist...or it could just be as I said above, a faulty or improper element...If this electrode was changed out it might have different voltage/amperage requirements than the original...so a mismatch between the two is possible....

The second picture looks like the result of mechanically restrained thermal expansion, but hard to imagine how that piece fits into either photo or Solar Eagle’s diagram. As PWSlack observes, weld quality may be key to performance in a high temperature high frequency magnetic environment, i.e. no carbon precipitation allowed.
