What if ?

10/31/2020 2:15 PM

Industry found optical brighteners (the stuff that absorbs light and emit blue light and make stains appear white and make colors brighter ) and are mixing it into washing powders , tooth paste , car polish etc.

Now my question is : what if the dark (invisible) matter in space act to absorb light and emits red light. The few photons intercepted over the miles of space might appear as a red shift.

Low pressure gas, when excited by an energy source, emits light at specific wavelengths, which appear as lines through a spectroscope. The wavelengths are specific to each element. Red shift is when these lines are shifted toward the red end of the spectrum, caused by doppler shift. It has nothing to do with absorption.

Er, um, <...optical brighteners...> are all about fluorescence. <...dark (invisible) matter...> isn't - hence the name.
